Hotels near Hershy swap meet

Hello everybody,
My wife and I are planning a vacation to Philadelphia this Oct and would like to take in the Hershey swap meet. What town between Hershey and Philly should we stay at that would be safe.

The last time I went to Hershey, Priceline found me a reasonable hotel not far from the event. Check it out.

Going to walk the grounds for the first time since ‘74..lotta mud that year. I remember a cat had a barrel nose (37/38 ford) wrecker, he was busy pulling folks out.

Many many towns, just dont stay in the city. the place is a swamp.

Harrisburg is pretty reasonable.

We are staying in Lebanon PA.

At this point you may have to get on a site like Expedia, Priceline, Trivago. etc. to see what is available. We have had to stay in Harrisburg in past years. Last year we stayed in the Hershey campground. It was different but not a bad experience.

Remember the dates are mid week. Not on the weekend anymore.

Might try the Hershey Lodge. They have a shuttle that takes you to the field.They fill up fast.If you want to spend $$$$ Hershey Hotel. There are many other smaller places on Chocolate Ave. Check expedia or one of the others.

I have stayed in a cabin at the Hershey Park Campground for the last several years. Free shuttle service to and from the swap meet/car show/AACA Museum (just tip the bus driver). check out their website. If they don't have any vacancies for that week, you can put your name on the waiting list. They sometimes have last minute cancellations. https://www.hersheyparkcampingresort.com/

For a really plush hotel, I recommend the Cameron Estate Inn B&B in Mt. Joy, your wife will love!!!!

I've stayed at Mainstay Suites in Grantville for 10 years. Easy trip to & from the meet, reasonable rates, great Italian restaurant (Fabios) across the street from hotel. Good luck.

Staybridge suites near the AACA museum is very nice and also close.

Anything in the window of the fall Hershey meet will/could be problematic. If the October trip is for the meet, so be it. But you’ll experience the following :
1. Availability- get reservations now!
2. Cost (2-3 times none event rates)
3. Traffic
4. Restaurant availability
5. All cost have a multiplier due to event

By the way. Bring fall clothes,Summer clothes and rain gear. Never know what is weather wise that time of year.
