Default Speedster value

Looking at a Model A Speedster build that was just started and the owner passed. Has a Rootlieb kit that retailed for $5500. Frame, engine and running gear appear to be good. Very little work was done.

If its a complete kit, the $5,500 price is several years old. A complete chassis sells for
about $1,000 around here. They make a real cute looking car and quite peppy with
the light speedster type body on it. I'd say offer them between $5,000 and $6,500
Is it a complete kit?

Thanks, I know what it’s worth to me but I need to know what’s it’s worth to other people so I’m not outbid.

Far from enough info. Maybe there is a mind-reader that will throw a number. I’ve seen bargains and I’ve seen way over market bids. If you know what it’s worth to you, isn’t that your maximum bid. Stop there?? Huummm
Incomplete projects. (Or basket cases) are usually distressed

so you want to bid blindly to any price? that is what it sounds like you are saying, so not sure what any of us thinks is really important.

If you can, go to the car and check it out in person before bidding.

There is a Model T speedster on Bring a Trailer now. The bidding will end shortly. It doesn't look like it has an overhead conversion (I did not look at it in detail) but it will give you one data point. You may be able to find a Model A speedster that had been sold in the past on BaT.

That said, a speedster can bring low money or high money depending on whether the buyer likes speedsters. Some people do and some people don't.
