I am starting to fix up a 30 Tudor I acquired a few years ago. It had been sitting for years as the owner passed away and another person had it but did not work on it. It belonged to a Mr. John Kandl of Southern Maryland. I did not know him. It has a BW OD that has a push/pull knob in the floor board that interferes with raising the drivers seat. This has a cable that actuates the lever on the OD unit. In addittion, there is an adjacent lever thet looks like a VW beetle hand brake. This operates a Rube Goldberg bellcrank that goes to the solenoid, which I believe should have been electrically actuated. I would like to mount all this on the column as some were done earlier. Replacing the solenoid apparatus with the proper stuff. Does anyone have or know where to find such stuff?

The car is green on the bottom and black on the top. I hope that helps.

Borg Warner R 10s were used by many manufactures from the 40s to 70s you may need to do some research to ID it
If it turns out to be a Ford unit I would call Mac Vanplet

It is a Borg Warner and I already called Van Pelt. I know there was a gentleman in Columbus and another in Redding who did these mods to the drive tube but there were several ways to actuate the controls. That is what I am looking for. Thanks Colin.

Originally, there was a "T" shaped handle that extended under the dashboard on Overdrive equipped cars (Ford and others). With the handle in the out (towards driver) the OD unit was disengaged. Pushing the handle in (forward), "allowed" the OD to be engaged, at speeds above about 27 mph. Engagement was done via solenoid activation.
If you look up OD info on the net, you should have some idea of what's necessary to engage the OD with a switch, rather than the items all factory cars were equipped with
(Kick-down switch, speed switch, etc).
