Convex mirror

Anyone know where to find a CONVEX mirror head for a ‘39 curved arm, door hinge mirror. The mounting shaft is centered on the back of the head.

I would think any auto parts store or truck stop would have what you need.
Be aware that the distance and perception of what you see in the mirror is not accurate.

Try this link. They have various size convex mirrors that might be exactly the size of your mirror and can silicone it on. I put one on the right side of my '55 and it works great. They also have complete heads, and adaptors to adapt to different arms. They aren't the cheapest, but good stuff. The mirrors aren't so convex that you can't distinguish the image, and mine cut out the vibration that was in the original mirror. If you can use one of them, I don't think you will be disappointed.

The round stick on mirrors come in all sizes, I am sure you can find one that fits over your current mirror. I have them on both right side mirrors on my 40s.

I have the Hagan mirrors that 40cpe is referring to and they are absolutely great. They are a little pricey though, but in my mind worth it. There is nothing better than driving on the Long Island Expressway or the New Jersey Turnpike and seeing every car next to and behind you with no blind spots.

Convex mirrors are a great idea. I used stick ons that were the same diameter as the side mirrors. Many choices on eBay. They look quite natural. I ran sealant around the edge so that the elements didn't get in to the stick on tape.

I bought mine from Joe's Antique Auto, just the heads, bolt is in center of back and have them on both sides of the Fordor. Some may not like the idea but I find they eliminate much of the blind spots to the rear.

Yes they will. I got used to both convex mirrors very quickly and it does help with a wider view. I used the convex replacement heads to keep a fairly stock look. On my pickup, I use a small convex stick on mirror on the lower outside edge of each mirror.

Ditto. I put them on the 41 so I could see around the car when the top was up (with the small back window).

Nothing will help with the stock mirror location on the passenger side of the 41 however.....

A side note, in rainy weather, convex mirrors perform much better with a coat of RainX.

I used a Grote 12014 on my '40 convertible, it makes a huge difference in the rear visibility. The mirror was pretty much useless without it.

Just don't forget the warning on modern car convex mirrors that objects are closer than they appear to be in the mirror, which is especially relevant if used on the driver's side as some above indicate they are using them on both sides.

I agree. In my pickup I use the drivers side mirror basically just to check the blind spot but I still turn my head to look before making any maneuvers. The right mirror lets me see the edge of the road as well as cars in the blind spot that I can't see even when I'm looking so the right mirror is more important to me.

It's a choice between not seeing things in their correct perspective vs not seeing them at all.
