The War Department gave the go ahead so Ford started production of the 59 series for commercial use in late 1944. They made 221 41A blocks and 59A blocks at the same time so that farms and shipping businesses could keep the earlier Ford products moving till the war was finally over. Pickups & trucks were offered in the early part of 1945 for the same purpose. They finally gave the go ahead for the passenger cars just before VJ day so that they could get back into production for the 1946 model year. The 1945 commercials were kind of spartan but they were new trucks and the country was needing them pretty bad by then.

That is so amazing, I picked up my 1945 from my brother, but we moved it 40 years ago from a Farm that had 2 of them and we scavenged off the real broke one to be as complete with the one I have now and I'm fixing up.
