Dumb question! I just can't recall!
So, which way do the 6 universal (to transmission) bolts face, heads to rear or heads to the front and nuts in the rear? I should know, but I don't! Photos?

Yes! But I don't think they're correct bolts. But thanks for posting this anyway.

Does not surprise me. PO did a lot of work/things on the car, not all of it to factory specs, he stopped working on the car in the early to mid '60's, and then it sat for the next 53 years.

Re: Dumb question! I just can't recall!
EDIT PER DONS FINDINGS: The top center is different from the rest, i believe the top center is nut to rear, the rest nut to engine.
Reason being i dont think you can get a socket on the nut in the hole between the shift rail nubs. I am also pretty sure the 2 clam halves the nuts are on top.

I believe the correct way to install these bolts is to put the head of the bolt between the two tunnel ears on the transmission tower with the nut on the back side. This way you can get a wrench on the nut. The other bolts go in the opposite direction.

Re: Dumb question! I just can't recall!
Thank you all> I was fighting with it and couldn't recall whether it was correct or not. Also, the bolt on top is just a hair shorter. You can't get the longer bolt in the hole.
