1932 Hole Locations - Top & Rumble Handles
Hi,
My 32 roadster originally had a trunk so I never had the holes for the grab bars/rails adjacent to the top of the quarter panels to help ingress and egress to the rumble seat. The top rubber oblong bumper holes for the top rest when the top is collapsed were also filled at one time. Can anyone with an original 32 roadster help out with these dimensions please? I've suggested the dimensions to list on the attached mark-up which is not the best picture. I think dimensions from the opening of the lid would be best as I've suggested. Thanks |

Actually there is no such thing as "grab bars". The stainless (or chrome plated brass) Model A carryover pieces are top rests for the folding top bows to lay on and to attach the hooks for the boot straps. . They have nothing to do with rumble seats. There are for the roadster top, along with the oblong rubber window resst in the center. I just went out to get you the dimensions and remembered that the top is down and with the boot on and lashed down to the top rests , I can't measure all of them, as the rubber bumpers are under the boot. However I get D = 2 3/16" ; E = 2 1/4" ; and F (total length of top rest ) =6"
Hopefully this is close to what others get. My opinion |

And therefore all '32 roadsters had them, with or without a rumble seat.

Did you look inside the body to see if there are holes that were filled or reinforcing plates?

Thanks guys.
No Charlie I didn't. I planned on looking inside the body today. I was away all day yesterday. Glenn |

Re: 1932 Hole Locations - Top & Rumble Handles
Okay I found the D-E holes and the dimensions are about what Floyd provided. I also found the filler bumps underneath for the rubber bumpers. I'll need to get my head underneath the panels to carefully remove the filler without affecting the paint up top. I'll put masking tape over the top first.
Thanks everyone. |
