Gas pressure shocks are, as you found, to stiff for these light cars. I used '60-'70s Volkswagen tube shocks on the roadster. I believe the supplier is in CT. If I can find the invoice, I will post the info,

The Volks shocks were Vern Tardel's suggestion. The supplier I used was Bug City, Berlin Ct. 860 666 2489.

Description; "shocks, rear 49-66, Bus Van Frt/Rear 55-67.
Part # 113513031 Gbr 2012 price $36.95 ea.

I will post a photo of them installed in the next day or so.

Are they the same length front and rear?

I like to use the shocks from the early Malibu cheys from the 70's. these are 70/30 shocks. unfortunately you have to make the brackets.

Also remember to check specs on extended and collapsed length. It can make a significant difference in ride and safety. Too long a collapsed length can lead to broken shocks and or mounts and exessive bottoming out.

Maybe check Speedway/Pete and Jakes for their hot rod shocks. I used Monroe 5752 shock on 1941 1/2 ton Pickup.

Photos of Volks shock on a '29 roaster on an original '32 frame, A cross member, '32 wishbone anchored to K member, old Moredrop axle, F1 upper shock mounts, threaed bungs welded to axle at the perch pin bosses, (another Vern solution). Used same shocks on the rear, '40 axle, A cross member & spring. Modified '46-48 Ford aftermarket lower tube mounts upper mount on cross member.

Thank you. Exactly what I'm doing. Needed to get shocks, so these will fit the bill.

Sorry about the dark photo, this is better. Forgot to add, reversed spring eyes, front.
