Default Anyone....Anyone?????

Anyone here on the Barn use Flex Seal spray?? IF so do you think it would work as a "stabilizer" on the back of a rubber floor mat that is starting to crack into pieces????

It might. I sprayed some at the junction of my concrete basement wall and floor and it stopped a small seepage of water. It doesn't go on real thick if you move the can fast enough.

Robert,

You may wish to consider reinforcing the mat with canvas and then using a contact cement if Flex Seal doesn't have adhesive qualities before it dries. My '37 cabriolet has all original mats, front, center and rear and all are now reinforced with good quality canvas. They are good for another 82 years.

Before I would use a spray, I would consider using Flex-tape to reinforce it.

I do know that the glue on Flex Tape is unbelievably strong. I put some on a piece of white PVC I thought was temporary and couldn't pull it off.

I was contemplating using spray Flex Seal as a top dressing on my '34's original roof insert material but I was told it might be too thick. What say you guys?..

What I sprayed on my basement wall/floor junction wasn't thick. It sprayed about a 2" wide strip where I pointed it. Might be hard to get a streak free job on a wide surface. Get a can and experiment on some piece of scrap.
That might get some more life out of the original patched top on my 33 phaeton! I hadn't thought of that!

Only time I used it was for sound deadener on the underside of a stainlees steel kitchen sink. I thought that it would be thicker. It took many applications to get a decent buildup. For the floor mat, you would definatly need some sort of backer material. Maybe aluminum window screen? Kinda like doing fiberglass. Spray a good coat on then lay the backing material onto that, and then finish with a top coat.
