I searched but I wasn't able to find what I was looking for.

Is there supposed to be a welt between the PU running boards and the frame? (Mine doesn't have one)

Are pickups generally 4:11 rear ends? I checked the numbers below the pinion and it looks like 379

3.78 - 9/34
4.11 - 9/37
4.33 - 9/39
4.44 - 9/40
4.55 - 9/41

My 38 has a 9/34 - 3.78

As long as we are taking a poll, my 39 has a 3.78 rear also. How about the welting question guys?

I bought an extra from a hotrodder that was in a 39pu. It is a 3.78.

No idea on the welt. But my 38 doesn't have any and has never been apart from the factory. BUT this was a hard used bean and corn hauler.

Yes pickups, sorry about that. I don't have a 39 passenger car.....yet.

I have several pair of 38/9 boards and see no evidence that they ever had welt on them.

OK Thats good to know, I Looks like they mostly came with 3.78's Naturally, since I want taller gears, I get a 4:11 LOL But then it was a farm truck from Iowa.

Ive got an extra 38 rear end out back, I will have to go see what the numbers are under the pinion.

Looks like no welt, I didn't really think so, but I wanted to ask to make sure. I doesn't look like my running boards have ever been off the car but its hard to tell. (Learn somethin new here every day)
