Started on the 29 Red Rocket this weekend
I started dragging parts out again this weekend for the 29 Red Rocket hill climber. I think the frame will need to be lightned up a little I need to punch some holes in it. Im going to shorten the pickup box and add some length to the engine compartment. I didn't have any doors or back of the cab so I purchased door skins and the back side panels. I need more leg room does any one have any suggestions on whether to lenghten the door panels or the rear side panels? I also need to make some kind of door frame work out of tubing Im thinking. I beleive I have almost all the parts on hand now to work on this again.
Any ideas or input from you guys would be greatly appreciated as I know many of you a very talented with this body and frame work stuff. Bill Stipe

The extended repro cabs I've seen had the extra space added to the rear side panels.

Bill: Have you considered shortening the brake and clutch pedals? I am set to do that by 1 3/4 inches for a club member (very big guy) in order to help his legroom in a '29 155B. He already has moved the seat back 2 inches and he needs a bit more. Should work as long as one pays attention to the adjustments. Gar Williams

Brent stopped to visit this summer we had a good visit but too short. I heard about the longer cabs but of coarse after I bought my parts to late. I never thought about the pedals but I think I need to get away for the steering wheel too I seem to have added a few pounds the last years!!! Ward do you know if the cab is longer or the doors? Bill

If I had my choice about leghthening the cab I would do it in the doors. If you make the rear quarter longer you will have more leg room but if you do it through the doors you also get easier access in and and out too.

Yep , that's where i start too Ray. The front cowl is set so longer doors and move back the rear cab with seat riser.

Re: Started on the 29 Red Rocket this weekend
Ray I think that is a good way to go, I have to build and door frames anyway because I only have skins. The doors will be a little more work than the rear quarters but its hard to get your butt in the cab with the short doors. I have a 26 model T pickup and its hard to swing in there.
I thank every one for there input, now I will have to build up some ambition!! Bill

I would add some to the doors and back of the cab so very thing looks right. Keep us posted on your build
