Default Reed Switch Fuel Tank Sending Unit Question

Has anyone had any experience using one of these type sending units in their vehicle? They are used in boats. They are 12 V and made to work with matching 240-33 ohm 12v fuel gauges. I am using a TANKS INC. 16 gal. polypropylene tank.

I realize I can't use the stock 40 Ford 6V fuel gauge as it doesn't operate on the ohms law principle. I am thinking about using REED SWITCH SENDING UNIT along with a separate matching ohms fuel gauge mounted under the dash. The TANKS tank is 8 1/4 in. deep inside. Here's the tank.

Here's the Reed Switch sending unit.

The reason I am considering using this set up is because I'm tired of the inaccurate FUEL GUAGE readings when using the stock 40 gas tank sending unit in the TANKS tank. I have adjusted it until I am blue in the face but, it's not as accurate as I desire.

Thanks.

Instead of using an extra gauge under the dash; you could use one of these SW truck gauges with a '40 face or decal in the dash. The gauges work with a regular SW sender and should work with 240-33 ohm reed switch sender.

Thank you Rich b. Any idea where to find one of those gauges?

I saved some gauges from sweepers we scrapped when I was working for an Elgin dealer. Similar panels were used in Mack MB and White Compact trucks. Also have seen them in industrial trucks and saw a marine version on eBay once.

The new panel in the attached picture is on eBay now. Not mine.
