Default Thread size for engine block petcock

I guess the title says it all. Eyes are dim, hands are shaky so thread gauge sort of useless now a days. So, what is the thread size? Thanks.

Thanks Mart. I never have been able to get the pipe thread thingie straight in my mind without a lot of head scratching. Everything pipe goes by ID and not OD. Its corn fusing.

The easiest mental way to initially think about it is that the NPT pipe size (based on ID) is usually about 1/2 the size of the threaded hole it is going into.

It is not exact but gets your mind in the right place!

I like B&Ss quick check, "The easiest mental way to initially think about it is that the NPT pipe size (based on ID) is usually about 1/2 the size of the threaded hole it is going into."

if ones 1/4NPT they all will be most likely as cant see henry buying 2 things to do the same job [the more you buy the harder you can tighten the screws]
