My lift now goes to the top!!
My contractor finished the modification to my garage that will allow me to raise my Backyard Buddy more than 2 ft off floor(low ceiling). We ended up raising the roof of the garage 3.5' over the lift area. My pkp goes to top w/over 8" clearance. He finished the inside last Saturday. Yep, that yellow is bright. Note my Fordbarn flag back on the wall in the last pic.
Top is watertight but still needs stucco added... but the outside shouldn't hold me up on the inside! Very happy Al

Re: My lift now goes to the top!!
I'm sure Dave has got the conv sedan in top form. The lift was a big help even when it could only go up 2'... no jack stands and jacks and blocks of wood. MUCH safer and saved alot of time. Easy to check something out.
This pic from 2007 shows the garage before the lift was added at the extreme left. The garage had a flat roof. Now it has a "coffin" on top. The yellow goes back to 1974 when my Dad painted my first hot rod bright yellow. Our new club quickly started kidding me about the bright Ford. Being a sport, I adopted the bright color as my color of choice. That first hot rod was named the "Yellowbird" by club members. When I was looking at colors for the garage, I noticed that one shade of yellow was named "Yellowbird." That sealed the choice. The club members had grins all around when they first saw the garage and I explained the color selection. Now you know how I came to prefer the bright color.

Re: My lift now goes to the top!!
Thanks, fellows, for all the kind words. As for modifications, the major item was beefing up the rafter to right of lift and then doubling it and adding a post just in front of the post for the lift. You can see it (yellow, of course!) if you look. Garage is 26' deep and 32' wide. one 16' door, one 12' door. I can't believe I waited 3 years to get it done! Politics, you know her name, required remodeling the front of the house to include a big new porch, some stone on one wall, and new roofline and roof. Then we remodeled the master bathroom and bedroom area. THEN we did the garage roof. I say all that to help understand the true cost of the "coffin" on top of the garage.
Hopefully, the rest of you can make a similar modification with much less "preparation!" Thanks again for the good words, Al
