Plugs and wires
I am rebuilding a 239 flat head for my Merc M250 and I am looking for new plugs and wires. I have upgraded the 6V to 12V including the coil. Most every part I seem to need is something I have to order in from the U.S. I live and Canada and I was hoping I could get these at NAPA or something. Anybody happen to have some part numbers? Also i seem to have misplaced my oil pan plug. I would assume there must be a universal replacement? I looked online and it got real confusing jumping between metric and imperial threads. Again, does anyone happen to have a part number or anything?

Re: Plugs and wires
I assume your 239 is an 8BA style motor you didn’t say the year.
Try this spark plug wire set from NAPA Part #: BEL 700170 I’m not sure about the oil pan plug, I sold my ‘50 Flathead in 1965, and the one in my ‘41 is way different. Last resort you could pull the pan and take it to your local NAPA. I’m not sure about your local store, but my store has a flathead guy who works during the day and he is very helpful. |

Re: Plugs and wires
1951 8ba (Cdn M-3) with cleanout plate drain plug is the same as a 1950 car (Cdn 8ba) drain plug.

Re: Plugs and wires
I haven't checked NAPA lately but at one time you could get Packard brand #440 plug wire by the roll and bulk ends to do it yourself.

Re: Plugs and wires
Didn't work for me the last time I tried (about 20 years ago). You can get that stuff from "The Brillman Company", though. My neighbors will attest to the static on their radios when I drive by.
