Re: 57 Ford model name
As I remember, it was simply a Fairlane 500 sedan. Less chrome, a cheapy. The Fairlane 500 was top of the line whatever body it was. My Grandpa had a six powered four door that year as a company car, for an extra set of wheels around. It was known at the time as the Inca Gold, the color on the bottom.

Imitation hardtop, never heard that before.
Would it have been called a Fairlane 500 2 door sedan? |

Re: 57 Ford model name
My two cents: Somebody needs to drag out a copy of a '57 catalog...

Scicala is correct. See this brochure. You all must see a picture in the original post that I don't.

Re: 57 Ford model name
The information I posted in post #6 is from Ford documentation. Again, I was referring to Fairlane 500's and not the regular Fairlane's.

Re: 57 Ford model name
Here are two pages from the original 1957 Ford Sales Brochure. For 1957 (and 1958) these full size Fords were offered on two different wheelbases. The Custom and Custom 300 models had a 114" wheelbase, while the Fairlane and Fairlane 500 had a 118" wheelbase. Hope that this helps. |
