Does anyone know what the length of the drive shaft should be on a 47 Columbia 2 speed rear end when putting it in a 28 roadster pickup?

Re: kajnhedge
Hello. Welcome to the Barn. It would be impossible to say, as this is a non standard application. If someone suggested a length that worked for them, it may not suit your rpu.
You'd do better to first of all work out how much you need to shorten the torque tube by, then shorten the drive shaft by the same amount. Good luck with it. Mart. |

Re: kajnhedge
I have '28 roadster pickup with a '46-'48 Columbia in it. It had been cut to fit the "A" back in the '60's. In the '70's I decided to lengthen the bed to put a camper on so I could drive it Alaska. Got married & flew instead of driving. Long story -- short, I reinstalled a stock '48 tube & shaft to determine my wheel base. I have the shortened shaft somewhere in my pile of rust so will try to find it & let you know.

If this is an AV8 then everything from the placement of the motor mounts & drive train choices plus the suspension choices have to be considered. If you ask for dimensions on this then you have to copy everything from the car the dimensions came from. |
