Valve cover
While cleaning up the engine compartment yesterday I noticed a couple of extra holes in mine. Any idea why they'd be there?

Re: Valve cover
Maybe to vent the valve chamber of pressure? I would plug them and use the cover.

Re: Valve cover
The valve cover that came with the engine that was in my Pickup when I bought it had one of those holes in it. It was plugged with an 1/8" pipe plug.

Re: Valve cover
I think I'd have used a 1/8 pipe fitting and run a hose to the inlet manifold as a kind of PCV, especially if there was a tendency for a leak from the rear main.

Re: Valve cover
I would find another. They are plentiful at swap meets for a few bucks. Just remember there are two versions, an early and a late. Either will bolt up to the engine. The difference is you need the proper length oil return pipe to mate up.
