Default stage fright with my 34 jalopy

I had some antique tractor guys over today, thought i would educate them on the sweet music of a flathead purring thru straight pipes...it wouldn't start!!. Just 2 weeks ago, i started it up for the first time since October, fired right up. Put over 2 thousand miles on last summer, everything is new, it has never turned over more than twice without starting. Its in a dry barn, dry day, battery up to snuff, why? stage fright i presume. I have a relay to ground the original switch, I'll start there, but some thing has a bad connection, no spark I would guess. No time tomorrow, but i'll get er figgered out

It will start and run perfectly tomorrow when you are all by yourself. And do we have pictures of this jalopy?

I can pop my flatheads with one push, till someone is looking and a think I pump the accelerate once or whatever. Seems to never fail. To be honest i've tapped the starter plenty of times with people around and it pops. Till it doesn't.

I've had to swing flywheels for a bit to get an old hit/miss engine going cool. No big deal. It's running and we all like it.

Pete, you are on the right track i believe, switch related. This wreck is 12 volt, and has a few high amp draws like sealed beam lights, heater, and someday radio, so i used a relay to ground the original switch which then powers the system so no big amps thru the old ford switch. thats where to start with the multi meter. GB, i'll post some pics tomorrow, i am having issues with pics. Got a new computer last fall, paid some guy to transfer all my stuff over, and now new pics wont work, and old pics aren't there. So, to play with pics I have to power up the old rig, which will die any day now as its not secure from evil forces that lurk on the internet. Progress they call it

Buy a mac. Ya it cost more up front but it'll work for far longer. M1 chips are going to make them cheaper. The mac mini m1 for 600$ will do anything your desktop will do. with more support and protection. Keep you talking about old fords for longer. Oh stay off those sites! hahaha just kidding.

Tinker, I am a mac guy. The reason for a new one is that the old 2009 unit would no longer get updates from firefox, my browser. It got slower, and slower, until i realized it was just plain out of date. I am a lap top guy, got a 2018 mac pro off craigslist for 600 bucks. about 2200 new, so i am happy with it.

Firefox is decent, make sure to zap cookies on a month basis. Safari the base is for chrome video. Keep all your stuff on a usb drive. Take it anywhere. They are surprising large now and cheap. I find it funny people buy into the cloud when you can get an 1t external drive for 100$. PC on linux.

Best of luck with the car. It ran before so your half way there.

When I had a T, I had the opposite problem; when trying to demonstrate how to start the Model T to people, the bloody thing would always start as soon as I turned the ignition key on, repeatedly! It was cool, but damn frustrating at the same time, so I'd have to end up explaining what a free start was.
