39 coupe interior
Thinking about having the stock seat redone in (period correct looking) leather. I would like also to keep, as close to same color (beige) as possible.
Anyone do this? Have pics? Thanks in advance.

This is my leather interior. I found a old leather couch on the side of the road. stripped the leather off, used the old mohair for a pattern and have my wife sew it together. |

"As close as possible" might end up being custom dyed hides, which are available, although likely more expensive than off-the-shelf hides. Sometimes it is the only way to get the color and grain pattern that you want.

Re: 39 coupe interior
I'm doing my 39 deluxe sedan in vinyl.
The seat and backrest panels will be the same colour as the rest but will have a slightly different texture to give the appearance of leather. Here in New Zealand the leather/leatherette option was fairly common in 1939 especially for deluxe coupes. I had a 39 std sedan which still had the original leather interior in good condition. |

flat39: Congrats to your wife for her sewing skills. She must have a really good machine to handle leather. Really cool.

Re: 39 coupe interior
I did my 40 interior in fabric. the upholstery guy used some Mercury Sable material, that looks just like the Ford Fabric . It had all the modern scotch guard stuff in it

Re: 39 coupe interior
I just did the seat, side panels and package tray in my 40 standard in a burgundy leather in the stock pattern. I changed from a solid back standard to a split back deluxe seat for easier access behind the seat plus the old seat was like sitting on grandmas overstuff. I kept the cloth headliner and carpets as they were nice and look alright with the leather. It's no show car but the new seat makes driving it a pleasure. I get my leather from Crest Leather Company. My current sample book has leathers with the name of Shelly or Vele. The book has about 150 different colors. Google them, then contact them, I've had about a dozen cars using their leather.

Re: 39 coupe interior
Actually no, It is a regular Brother machine that she use to make doll cloths. We could only sew 2 layers together so the pattern is fairly simple.
