Tubman,
Thanks for the reminder. But clutch chatter was a problem from when they left the show room. I was just posting my opinion on how some methods help. What recommendations do you have on
brought back to that level if you expend the effort.

When I was 16 we used to spray carbon tech from a fire ext. through the
inspection hole. Put the front bumper against a big tree and slip the
clutch. This usually sopped the chatter. G.M.

We did this with a clutch plate that was stuck and acting sticky on a car that had been sitting for a decade (old oil on clutch?). Worked and the more we drove it the better it got.

Good motor mounts are important.

Did you check out the thread I referenced in post #17? To summarize it, the "fingers" differed in height from the flywheel surface by .050" with no adjustments. I was able to bring them within .007". When you figure that .050" is almost 1/16" , I think that you should be able to see that that much mis-alinement might cause problems (including chatter).

3 arm are adjustable, there are different pressure plates available but I can't speak on that. I use the original clutch plate, new clutch disc. Think a lot of people like fortwayne out of tx to get them set up. Not to push a cowboy company.

To be clear : the pressure plate came from "Fort Wayne Clutch" and didn't have the adjustment bolts. Most of them don't; that's an earlier feature; we're talking 8BA's here.

Well that's a bummer... Pretty sure 8ba's didn't have chatter rods either.

Hope they make it right.

If you had the flywheel cut, probably wouldn't be a bad idea to know if that was balanced as well as everything is bolted tight.
