Default new ignition switch wiring question

I bought one of the new expensive switches from snyder it is a 3 pole switch if i understand this switch correctly key turns left to one terminal center is off turn right to next terminal i assume center is off since key will come out of switch at that point since you have to turn the switch one way or the other how would you wire it and what good is the accessory side. Or what have some of you fellas done?

The second or ACCY position is for turning on a radio or an accy with the engine off. In this position there is no power going to the points..

SEE MY CORRECTION BELOW. Sorry

You do not want to take a very high amp draw off of that ACCY post or it could weaken your spark.

And if you use this style switch, you do NOT want to put it in the wire that runs from the coil (+) post (assuming positive ground -- connected to (-) if neg. ground) to the distributor points, as was done originally.

Instead, you want to put this switch in the wire that supplies power from the terminal box to the coil's (-) post (assuming positive ground -- connects to (+) if neg. ground). Then you can also supply power to something else from the ACCY post.

You could connect a "cigar lighter outlet" to the ACCY post to provide power for a cell phone or a GPS. They don't draw much current and will run on 6 volts. Just be sure to get the polarity correct. Then the GPS or phone charger would go off with the key.

So if say a radio was connected to this accessory post, it would still receive power in the on position as well as the acc position?

If you have an original type ignition system you can not connect anything
else to the switch.

OKAY CORRECTION. The ACCY terminal has power when the car is running ... KOER

ACCY terminal will have power with the key turned to the left

Sorry for the confusion & misinformation

And remember, this switch is NOT designed to use with a stock ignition wiring system.
To use this switch, the system has to be re-wired as a HOT SWITCH system, like MOST cars run. It's easy to convert it to that kind of system.

Ok i am wiring this switch i am a little confused as to how to wire with the key in the middle position switch is off and i can remove the key if i turn it left to accy i get no continuity with any terminal just like in the off position if i turn it to the right ignition I have continuity on all three terminals so i do not get how to wire this switch so that accessory works when the key is to the left. I guess i do not see how this should work.

Chief, are you keeping the stock wiring polarity? If so, there is an aftermarket shielded cable to the distributor and it has a terminal ending instead of being a part of the switch. If you use this you can run the Red wire from the coil to the Run terminal and the new distributor wire to the common terminal of the switch. Now, this is providing you don't plan to run a 6v radio or something.
