Transmission Rebuilder Any Info
Has anyone had any experience with "Al's Transmission Mechanix" in Hemet, Ca.? I talked to him at the Big 3 Swap Meet, but any other references would be nice.
The guys name is Al Zannino. Thanks |

I'm from the general area and never heard of him but that doesn't mean he's not a good rebuilder. You might check with the Early V8 Store in San Dimas if you're looking for a recommendation in Inland SoCal.

Re: Transmission Rebuilder Any Info
I'm on the other side of the country but I had to get my '40 tranny rebuilt in jan/13. AA Quality Transmissions in Stuart Florida did a great job. I had it re-built in 2004 but it was never 'right'. It was always hard to shift and I thought maybe they were all that way. When it finally went out last year this company was recommended and they did a wonderful job. It shifts as good as any new car on the road. They got all the parts they need from Mac Van Pelt. If you can't find anyone close they are worth the shipping costs. Good luck jhb

Al is located in Fountain Valley, CA. He rebuilt a 49 Merc O/D for me about a year ago and did a good job. Since you're on the East Coast I would suggest that you consider Charlie, NY or Mac VanPelt both of whom are Fordbarners, come highly recommended and are a whole lot closer to you than Al. JMO.
