So that old 59 Flatty then. Is it going to run?? If so, for how long??
I've been working on the 59 Flatty for 6 months. It's in the 32 frame, so why not see if it will run??
Thanks to everyone who has followed the progress on this old Flatty. Take good care of yourselves and I'll see you next time. Mart. https://youtu.be/enHN_ECCyhc |

Mart: imagine putting the Reds headers on with fenders etc. in the way, I had to take the driver side off and weld up the holes then reinstall. I found it much easier to take the horns off the inner fender of my ‘41 gave me a little more room to work. I still had a sore back for a week when I was done.

It's great to see you get it running. What weight oil is in it? Try running straight 30w and see how the pressure is.

Mart: CONGRATS on getting your flatty running. Video is really informative,.
Please keep us updated on how you improve the oil pressure. Is low oil pressure common in these type engines? |

I have read a common reason for low pressure on rebuild/reassembled 59a's is worn cam bearings, if you didn't replace them. I can't remember if you did or not.

That was great! Had a big smile on my face listening to that old engine purr. And I think we heard a smile in your voice, and your son Jack too. Grins all around.
And to think what the block looked like when you first removed the heads on that old piece of scrap iron! Thanks for all the videos. |
