Quigley -

Are the vehicles worth the $ they paid for them? I know it is difficult to tell via tv, but Frank seems to pay way over the top for older vehicles -

Maybe he has learned his lesson -

Thanks -

The latest on the "Picker Boys".

I have not watched the latest American Pickers to see just what is their latest car find. I have it recorded but have yet to find time to watch it.

The tease is "found an American Icon car - barn find"

Worth a look?
What model car are they speaking of? The track record for these folks is not that greatest when it comes to automobiles............. Just sayin'.

Thanks -

I've read in the paper that the Pickers are coming to our area. To be honest, I'd much rather deal with these "Pickers". They are much more entertaining and know their way around an old Ford:

It was an interesting episode and they picked up two Nash Healy coupes, seller has two more, both roadsters, and looking to sell.

They are at some old AMC dealer in NC.

I watched it last night after our Ford club meeting and could not believe the condition of the once thriving AMC dealership. How do you let that much property and all those cars literally go to seed?

If my eyes did not deceive me, there was an AMX on the "showroom floor". Someone out there must want to get a hold of some of these rides - go figure.

TBone - you are correct that this was an interesting episode as we learned quite a bit about the Nash Healey make up. Thanks for the input.

Be well -

Stew Masche -

A classic shot and great line -

Thanks - we could really use these "boys" and the comedy they provided today!

Steve -

I would have to agree on the phony aspect. The show continues to stir the pot with "finds" all over the place.

The last one that caught my eye was a '33 Ford Coupe that had been rusted and partially cut by someone in the past. They bought and dragged it home to IA. from CA., then let the shop guy turn it into the "consummate chopped Rat Rod".

What is in the next barn..................?

Be well -

I like to occasionally watch American Pickers when I get depressed about all the junk I have.

Then, I don't feel so bad after I see some of the situations they come across.

However, I am surprised to hear some of you feel that American Pickers may not be totally on the up and up!!!

My thoughts,

I watched a VERY short snipit last nite was turning the channel and they were on, and 'dealing' with a guy to buy his '39 Ford pickup. When that was over the channel got turned again. I only watched to see the pickup nothing else.

In answer to your question I THINK they are running new shows because the tattooed chick was on the road with some guy named Jeff, never saw him years ago when I watched the show and she was always at the home place.

From the 3 minutes I watched, I was able to surmise it is still the same BS phoney already done- deal show they have been promoting all this time. I believe in WWF wrestling before this crap.

Surprised it's still around.

A couple in our club went to their "store" recently. Everything except the shirts, mugs, and other picker souvineers was marked NFS (Not For Sale). While I've always thought the show was a bigger joke then WWF, now I'm certain.

According a customer insider who filled me in at one time, those so-called pickers have people from the History Channel go in and see if it will make a good show. It is pretty much arranged beforehand what is for sale and what isn't. So then the guys 'show up' in their van which has been transported there previously on a separate trailer. Ever notice the camera is already in the driveway? Then they pick thru crap, and they really don't buy anything alot of the time, they just make it appear they do. That's why some stuff is actually not for sale in their store, it's just there to make it look good. The whole thing is a sham. It has hurt the whole industry, cause now everyone thinks everything is worth something.

My daughter's fiancé was at the store recently. Got me some of their logo'd rags (3/pk) I kept one and shared the others with my show buddies.

Thanks for the updates ladies and gents. It seems this program generates quite a bit of response with regard to the lack of gearhead knowledge by Frank and Mike.

Maybe someone will be lucky enough to go out and save some of these beauties they are overlooking.

1928Mik ya got dat right,,, the show ruined trying to buy anything petroliana or antique cars for the reason you stated.

Makes it pretty tough for a new guy or a young person to get into the hobbies.

Last time I heard, Frank and Mike charge something like $20K to show up at a home event and are charging ten bucks apiece for an autograph.

Oh brother.

As an update on the Victoria........... what would be the current value on a car like that in long term "stored" condition? Your thoughts?

Thanks -
