Re: Model B Transmission
There is (was) a kit available to install a 32-39 toploader in the A.

Re: Model B Transmission
Yes, I am familiar with the Clings kit and am in the process of preparing a 39 trans. Although not a purist, if henry's b case will work that would be better. One fella wrote to say it would work with mods. I'm sure someone else must have gone down this road before......

Re: Model B Transmission
I installed a B trans behind my A motor in a dry lakes style roadster that is under construction. You will need a B upper flywheel housing. A bottom cover will need to be made to cover the bottom of the exposed flywheel. I used one off of a B oil pan. You will also need to use a B or lightened flywheel. The wishbone will have to have a new mount made and you will also need a new mount for your pedals. I am not sure about the rear motor mount as the B housing mounting holes are different. I used a 32 K member for my rear mount.

Re: Model B Transmission
I used a rear A crossmember, turned upside down and bolted it in place. Angle iron tabs were welded to the "new" cross member for rubber pads to sit on. I used a rear bearing retainer/mount off an unknown year V8 trans.

Re: Model B Transmission
p.s. You will have lost your petal assy. so I fabricated a mount and use a '39 assy. with hydraulic brakes. It has worked OK for 40+ years but may work on the clutch assy. as it causes flex when pushed.

Bert's Model A has the kit for installing the B transmission. Go to the end of the page at:

Re: Model B Transmission
I believe it will but you will have two extra bolt holes in the cover. Just use a V8 syyle cover with the A torque tube.
