Side glass setting rubber
I am having an issue with the side glass setting rubber with lip installation on my A400 restoration. The rubber is "U" shaped with a lip on one side. The "U" shape is not deep enough to fill the channel and still have the lip overhang the channel. I tried putting glass setting material in the channel to fill the void created when the "U" shaped rubber is pushed in to a depth which allows the lip to over hang as it should. This resulted in the windo/lip not coming up high enough when the window was installed in the car. The lip should be at the level of the outside window frame on the car. The solution would be for the "U" shape to be about 1/4" deeper. Is there another source for this rubber? Has anyone else run into this problem? Any help would be great. Thanks

Re: Side glass setting rubber
Why are u using rubber? What I’ve seen out of originals (and used in the past
) is cork with reinforced backing. A little hard to find and most of vendors don’t carry it. Have to go to Restoration Supply ( I think that’s the name but in PA) and a few others. I know the lip seems intriguing and logical to seal-up but has problems as you’ve found out. https://www.restorationspecialties.c...rd=Cork+glass+ |
