Default spindles according to the judging standards question

hows it going guys i have a very stupid but interesting question for ya , i was reading the judging standards with my father and it says that there are a left and right spindle . we both were like really ... went to the collection of parts and pulled out 6 spindles that look the same and no markings really .. question is have any of you heard of this or know how to tell which is which i cant really find any info on it as of yet

check the orientation of the round 'head' and the spindle locking groove. Put them on the wrong side and the brake shaft assembly won't fit correctly...fwiw,jm

If you are talking about the actual spindles that the wheels ride on then no, they are symmetrical. However I don't know of anything in the Standards that would suggest otherwise.

its on page 4-1 under spindle arm (older judging standards and resto guide book written by the restorer) now i thought they were exactly the same left n right but it says theres 3 diff types left and right . thanks guys for your quick responce joe

The differences refer to the thickness of the grease flange. (there is a change in the angle of the spindle arm as well, but more difficult to see without side by side comparison). I've attached a photo of the thin flange (not my fingers,btw). The earliest didn't have a flange at all...fwiw,jm

ok so we were reading it wrong my dad and i , that the spindles are the same the arms are what there talking about are different , and i see the grease seal lip i have to see what ones i have for that now ... thanks a lot guys for your help with understanding it
