Default '38 Ford window crank handle removal

I received a lot of help from this website when I was fixing my first Model A a while back. I have recently acquired a 1938 Ford 81A 2 door sedan with a newly refreshed interior. Love the car, but I'm concerned about the window cranks rubbing on the door card material. I think I need to remove the crank handles, and therein lies the rub (!).

I don't know how the handles are attached and I certainly don't want to damage the material the previous owner had installed. Help!

Also, any hints on how to raise the handle away from the vinyl material once it's removed would be appreciated.

Thanks much- Jon

The escutcheon should be spring loaded.
Push it against the door card.
In the gap you will see a small round pin.
You just need to drive that pin out with a nail punch and the handle will come off.

The pin is small and you will need three hands to push and remove pin. Drake sells a tool to make it easier.
