Excellent FH builder in Fairbury NE. Schmidt Machine. 402-729-5450 He's done several for me and they worked great. I know it's a little out of your area but worth the trip.

I went to college in Colorado but now build flatheads in California. I can help you arrange shipping to H&H Flatheads.

MON DIEU! Get the Sheriff and the State's Attorney General involved. There are just too many a-holes getting away with this kind of crap. I'm really sorry to hear of your monetary predicament. I was involved in a similar situation with a body shop jerk-off here in Texas about 29 years ago. The only bad habit these scum-wads have is continuing to breathe. And welcome to The 'Barn. DD

Sorry to hear that. That's why I said do your homework.

Fellas, if a guy has your motor and parts, no need to give them any money until you have your motor.

If a shop asks for money up front, it generally means they have cash flow issues or poor credit.

Hell - send it here to Ohio . . . can have Fowler Engines build it . . . and you'll be very happy with the results. Also, it won't cost you $10,000 to build one. PM me if interested.

You better file a complaint with your local consumer fraud department and do it now. Consumer Fraud is usually part of your local District Attorney's Office. Guys like this are out and out thieves and people need to stand up and not let them get away with this stuff. I deal with a local speed and machine shop and they have never asked for down payment or money up front. At some point people need to stop being the good guy (victim).

A long time ago I heard good things about this guy, no personal experience tho:
Jeff Andreen
303-430-8972
8240 Circle Drive
Westminster CO

There are several good flathead shops in Albuquerque, a day's drive south of Denver:
Automotive Machine Service -- 505-242-3548
Gary McGlasson -- 505-250-1586 [email protected]

Heard he's considering closing down the shop this spring because to many people are bugging him about their engines. I know a bunch of guys are waiting all over the US and Intl. If you can take a trip to CO, get three police to escort you over there and get your money back in parts he has all over the shop.

Get on it before he closes shop and skips town.

Be careful about taking parts out of a shop that´s not yours !!
If they are owned by another person and he can prove it when you have mounted them to your new and fancy engine...it can end up bad !!
Worst case scenario he can walk off with the entire engine after the law has ruled...

^^^This. Also, I have been troubled in general that in this and the other thread about crooked engine builders, several people have suggested taking the problem in your own hands and in some cases resorting to or threatening violence. Unless done carefully and with the proper legal backing, such action can turn out very badly for the person perpetrating it,

I'm with you Tubman - it is one thing to call a guy up, go see him and negotiate a "deal" to help with the loss of the money, but the minute you start strong-arming somebody, taking stuff off their walls, etc - now you are the crook . . . and the Police and courts will act accordingly. Whatever you do - make sure it is legal and above board . . . or you may lose a lot more than your $10K!

Also, if it involves "parts" to pay for work never done, you better make sure you have complete documentation - with serial numbers if possible (signed by the giver) - such that you have a leg to stand on if anything ever gets ugly!

Talk to Bert's Model A in Denver, they are good people and might have an answer for you. They have moved to a new location right next to Denver.

I'm sure nobody needs to tell you just how lucky you are! These stories VERY SELDOM ever turn-out on a positive note. I've been in a similar position many years ago with a body shop, and that situation never turned-out well. I'm certainly happy for you, and we certainly appreciate the follow-up, especially with such a good outcome. And you might ought to go out there and purchase a lotto ticket. Did the guy have any final words worth noting? DD

Thanks for posting that back here . . . as reputations do matter in our strange little world and I hope everybody else who has been waiting far too long for Go Cat has their engines delivered and that they are satisfied with the results.

Your recent results don't justify the behavior of Go Cat (4 years to build an engine), but they do at least give some people some "hope" for a positive conclusion.

Let us know how it runs???
