Default Grease and water

Had to fix rear axle leak the other day ended up with some rear end lube and a can of brake clean in the drain pan, set it outside so the brake clean would evaporate. I forgot it till the next day and it had rained. Now I've a mess of about 50%water and grease. Any way to separate easily so I don't contaminate anything?

Wipe your hands off good so you don't contaminate your wallet.. pull out a few bills and buy some new lube.

Pour the mix into a clear bottle and wait a few days for the water to settle to the bottom. Put the bottle in a freezer until the water freezes, then pour out the gear oil into your recycle container.

Great idea on the freezing, going to do that. Correct on the wallet, Ford lightning requires special lube from Ford or so it said. 80 bucks for the lube to fill it.

Who knew? Still be very careful about getting water into the lube, it will turn into a foamy mess.

I'd bite the bullet and get new lube. The internals will cost a lot more than 80 bucks if you destroy them with contaminated lube. Just my $.02 (whatever happened to the cent symbol, the C with a line through it?)

I had already put in the lube (New), I just didn't want to contaminate my waste oil or the driveway. I think the guy that gets my waste oil uses it to heat green houses and didn't want to mess up his burner. But thanks for the warning.

apparently the cent symbol is not worth $0.02 any more.it is not on any keyboards I have seen in the last several years. I thought it used to be on those old things called typewriters, but I cant remember, and don't have one to check.

I think it was on typewriters. Too bad it's gone; typing one symbol would be a lot easier than typing $.02.

Update: I believe I have solved the mystery. read on...or not...

Just killing time, and nobody was posting anything else to comment on......

(update)
Took a break from goofing off to get something done. Dropped off a front bumper I found to get repaired and replace a missing one. It's going on a restored '53/54(?) F-500 that belongs to our local Fire Dept.
