53 f100 wheel question
Hi, I had a cut on one of my wide whites and decided to go with radials all around
rather than try and match a 1980s vintage firestone 6.70x15 It turns out my spare is 16" and the other 4 are 15x5 5on5.5and so I needed to buy a wheel as I had bought 5 radials. I thought I found one, a taaa-1007-b. I* think what I got was a taaa-1007-a 2 piece lock ring, at least what I can find on the internet. I got what I asked for didn't I, a stock 53 15" wheel. will it work for a spare or is this like a widow maker? any value at all in it? I'm in it for 50 bucks. my others all are 1 piece. It looks like summit sells some vintage something or others that will work for my spare. Thanks, Bill |

Re: 53 f100 wheel question
TAAA1007-B is K-H #37717. Ford later switched the number to TAAA1015-B. My 4/54 K-H catalog shows it to have a Firestone "RHP" continuous side ring and semi-drop center rim. That agrees with what I see in your picture. You probably won't find a K-H number anywhere, but you might find the Firestone rim number F78RHP-2. This is not a widow maker Firestone "RH-5°". It is safe to use but should have a radial tube and flap when mounted with your new radial tires. Don't expect the kid a Walmart to know how to mount the tire. But any big truck or ag shop will know how it's done. Stu
Edit - tell me something. Since it's a NOS wheel, is the ring painted silver or plated? I bet it's plated, maybe galvanized. I have a set of RHPs myself that will someday go on a M-H. Stu

Just checked ebay- there are about 6-8 listed. Personally, I wouldn't use the one you have. Last edited by paul2748; 11-14-2013 at 08:24 PM. |
