Not Ford but its a 1971 truck transmission (International) and I have been running straight #30 DMO engine oil in it for years. Works fine but has a slight leak at the pto output shaft. I intend to change to something heavier like #50 one of these days. The local Co-op has, or can order, quite a selection of lubricants for farm and automotive use.

SAE 30 engine oil is similar to SAE 80-85 gear oil and 50 is similar to 90 gear oil in viscosity.

You are right about those T axles. They are not the same. They have thrust washers in them. Not too much similarity to the model A & later type axles other than theory of operation. The TT truck still had worm screw drive.

As promised, here are the details for purchasing SAE 90 GL-1 in Alberta....

UFA product number 9434723 is for the pail, $101.95 plus tax and levy’s. I was able to order mine through the Airdrie depot, (587) 775-7552, ask for Reanne.

The SAE 140 is available thru Red L, details higher up in the thread.

Both are special order products, and like everything else, if the number stays active, they say they will continue to order it.... so order up!

Cool, so since you mention levies, I'm gonna guess they are 25 gal US. Yes / no?

That would be nice, but no, it’s a 15.9 litre pail, which according to on line conversion gizmos is 4 US or 3.5 imperial gallons. The environmental levies are calculated at 5 cents a litre here....

Pretty much all motorcycle oils are GL-1 rated. If you're looking for a 90 weight gear oil equivalent, you can get a straight SAE 60 from Harley Davidson or Amsoil. I'm not sure about other brands. I was planning on running 20w-50 mc oil in my transmission.
