1933 piston rods cotter pin?
Do the 1933 engine piston rods use cotter pins/castle nuts?

Assuming that you are asking in regard to the four, yes, slotted hex nuts and cotter pins. Ford switched from using castle nuts to slotted hex nuts progressively during the '33 model year (in the U.S.).

Make sure the cotter pins are tight when installed.

Not if the correct size and properly installed. There were, after all, hundreds of thousands of Fords running around with them on the connecting rod nuts for many years without incident. The real danger is when one or more are inadvertently left off when an engine is rebuilt or pins that are too small are used.
