1933 Raised Hood Catch
When I lift up my hood it sometimes catches and stays up and sometimes slips down. What should be there to catch the hood edge and hold it up and keep it from falling?
Perhaps my hood sections are connected together to stiff and do not fold over far enough, I lubricated them hinges with Gibbs oil and folded them over more and now it seems the center of Gravity back far enough to keep the hood from falling down. Is that they way it was intended to work? Last edited by FrankWest; 07-11-2017 at 11:17 AM. |

Nothing on the '33. The 34's have a catch. I bought one of those hood support brackets that clamp to the radiator/firewall rods. Works good. Buy 'em at any parts distributor.

Re: 1933 Raised Hood Catch
Here is a stainless hood prop kit.
http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Speedw...-Kit,2957.html Mounts across your radiator support rods. An arm folds out and holds your hood up. FYI - When you go down the highway and something is rattling like crazy and sounds like it's going to fall off your car, it may be your new hood supports. I had to wrap electrical tape on mine to make them quiet. I thought for a long time I was loosing a water pump or something.
