Default 34 clutch release lever question

i'm installing a 38ish transmission in a 34, and i see the release arm is about 3/4" shorter than a correct 34. will it work? i ask because it now will have a 10" long style clutch instead of the multi fingered what ever its called original style clutch. perhaps that style needed the longer arm and mine wont? i'm hoping, as its all in good shape, bushings etc, so i'd like to just put it in. i have the 34 arm, just thought i'd ask before fighting the pin holding it on. thanks, skip

I think the 34 arm was longer as the clutch had heavier springs being not the counter weighted type as after 35 I think, these maybe didn't need as longer arm,I have a 10 in in my 33 and used the shorter arm,it's still very light,

The '34 arm is longer and angled outward, whereas the 35-38 arm is a straight 90 angle to the clutch shaft. If your clutch linkage is still the stock 34 type you should swap the arms.

The pins that secure the arm to the shaft can be tight and are swedged into place. Sometimes you can grind off the head of the pin and then drive it out. Occasionally the pin is so tight that you have to drill it out. It's easier to do this with the shaft out of the transmission and in a bench vise. Also less chance of damage to the gearbox casting when you're applying the force of the BFH and a dose of frustration.

In actual use the later lever works fine with the '34 pedal setup.
