Default Metal Valve Stem problems...

I have two 1928 Scharder metal valve stems that need help.

One the "innards" broke off inside the core...How the heck would one get it out? I think drilling it out is out of the question?

The second stem, no matter what "innards" I put into the stem, it leaks air and it is tight.

I just might be crap out of luck on either one.

Any "stem" guru's out there?

Thanks.

If it's the valve core stuck in the stem I have a tool like this that works quite well.

That is exactly what I used Bob...I thought it was coming out then it broke. I think I got the "threaded" part out but the rest is still stuck in the stem. Might be able to push it out from the bottom side.

Maybe a small drop of locktite on the threads and make sure the bore doesn't have a burr. use a new valve. The broken one may be stubborn or might just push out if it is past the threads.

Well I'm not an expert on them but maybe the diagram can help you figure out how to get that booger out of there

Steve, do not try to push the core out from the bottom as you will ruin the internal threads and your stem will become worthless.

Well I pulled the thin wire in the core assembly "inner valve" out but it left the other parts still in the valve...Now what? So I took a small drill bit and very, very slowly got the small inner seal out but it still left some parts within the core. Turned the valve over and drilled from the bottom side up and that removed the excess. Blowed it out, put a new core in the valve and tested it for leaks...good to go.

Thanks for all the advice.
