Welcome New Comers.
I noticed allot of new comers on the Barn lately. I'm very glad to see you here. I don't know of any other place where you can find tihim much knowledge about early Ford cars and trucks. To get started in this Hobby can be alittle expensive and I'd like to suggest alittle reading material for you.
"Clintom Motor Manuals" Find one from the mid 50's and every question you can dream of will be covered. It's the true automotive bible. Another book is JWL's "Flathead facts". It's the only book of it's kind, as it will tell you exactly what most modifications will do and their costs. The costs changes every year due to inflation, but you get the idea. The Clinton manuals cover the complete automobile including window regulators and gauges. Not much on floor mats tho. Welcome, Have fun, and remember: It's the journey, not the destination. Ol' Ron |

Welcome New Comers.
I'm a lurker and never-poster but your welcome prodded a post out of me.
My father was a mechanic and I grew up from 10 y/o to 20's in his service station pumping gas, doing light repairs and tune ups while admiring the 'real' mechanics of the day in the 1960's-about 1980. My father had all the Chilton books in a table top binder that had them all tilted up on end and you could leaf through any car from Alfa or Volvo. I loved it and would give anything to have just those back issues... good memories. I dropped by his house in Maine last fall and a bit out of character for him: he pulled me aside and asked if I 'wanted to be bothered' with his cars when he could no longer drive anymore. He's 77 this year and starting to have some health issues he told me if I did I should start building a garage now. But he still drives them daily and I'm in NO RUSH! But, of course YES I told him, I'd did, YES!! He spent the rest of the day showing me how to drive them all which was a very special treat for me I'd never been allowed to drive even a one. They're all steel bodied survivors. Two are hot rods 37 coupe 383 'stroker and 46 pickup w/Chevy V-8, the other two with original flatheads '37 cab and 34 pickup... Did I 'want to be bothered?'.... wow Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro |

The early V8 site has been great for the resurrection of my 39 peek-up, have been on the Model T side lately. It's a little slower over there and not as chippy |

Beautiful bunch of cars! Your Dad has great taste in cars. Welcome to the Barn!
I think you'll find everything you need to know here about old Fords, including how to pull out the sbc and reinstall a flathead. |
