Default A-9002-C Gas Tank reinforcement...

The July 7, 1931 Indianapolis Ford Service Letter discussed the A-9002-C Cowl Tank in that it had been “reinforced” and the steering column support (was) “redesigned” to avoid breakage when used over rough roads. Reports were received that some A-9002-C cowl tanks without the reinforcement were breaking loose.

By this time the Indented Cowl type tank, A-9002-E, was in use so the "reinforcement" that Ford talked about must have been added to those tanks which were replaced after the production period for these specific tanks.

Any thoughts on this...examples of "reinforced" tanks? What did Ford mean by this?

I don't think they are talking about the NEW style brackets either used with the Indented Cowl type tanks but who knows?

Thanks.

could they be talking about the support that bolts to the dash rail instead of being welded to the bottom of the tank

I do not think so...it is "reinforcement" of some type, NOT the NEW style brackets supports) as explained in Service Letter for which I quoted!
