I saw an opportunity to get a T touring in pretty good original condition for quite a bit less than an A, so I jumped on it.

When I was about 4 or 5 years of age, there was an old farmhouse just down the road from where we lived.

We would walk down to the farm and talk to the farmer who was old at the time.
There was an old farmhouse and I recall trick or treating there at Halloween with my brothers and other kids from the neighbourhood.
The house was amazing as it was like time stood still there.
They had a porcelain kitchen sink with a cast iron hand pump for water, well worn wooden floorboards, old style wallpaper and a hand crank phone up on the wall.

They were both such kind and welcoming people.
This was in the very early 1960's, a very different time from today.
I remember there were chickens, and an old white swaybacked horse in a stall, and under a lean to right next to the barn, was an old car.
Can you guess what car it was?
It was a 1926 or 27 Model T Tudor sedan!
The body was covered in a light coat of rust; the glass was mostly broken and the upholstery was in tatters.
Many years later I went back to the farm and the house was no more, and sadly, no more Model T.

Hope you all enjoyed a little trip back to childhood with me.

Regards,

Steve

As an elementary school kid I remember going to Antique Automotive in San Diego with my father and seeing their showroom with cars for sale and somehow the Model Ts were the first old cars that caught my imagination. I have a '27 T sedan body that will be my someday hot rod and I plan to keep the body stock. Once I became of driving age and actually started to learn about the differences in Model Ts, As, and early V8s I became a fan of the early V8s but I still have a soft spot for the Model Ts, I just don't have the ambition to actually own one with a stock drivetrain.

I like Model Ts. I like the absolute simplicity of a 1909-14. I am not a mechanic, by trade. If I had all of the parts, with the exception of the engine and transmission, I could bolt one together in less than a day.

Fun thread! When I began looking I had the same question myself, A or T?

I have a '28 A fordor, haven't owned a T YET. I mostly ended up with the '28 A because it was in the price range, condition, and location. I was itching at the bit to get something and I just happened to stumble on that deal within my state. Not ever driving a T before the "modern" pedal and shifter arrangement was appealing as well.

I wanted to get a T because of the historical significance and still want one because of it. As much as I love driving my '28 and how proud I am of it, I can only imagine that the T brings the same with an extra bit of pride, joy, and most excitingly character. I would personally like to get one of each!
