Default Broken carburetor mounting ear

Has anybody had success repairing a broken mounting flange ear on a Zenith carburetor? And if so, what method did you use. Or do you know where a person can purchase just the top casting?

Check with Gary WA on this site. He may have some as he was offering to help another member with a lower casting. Scroll down to the topic Zenith, about 10 rows down.

There was an article a little while back in the Model A News where a guy saved a late 31 carburetor.

I brazed one together, a PO had made an attempt to fix it and had ground some material off of the smaller piece, this left a space between the 2 pieces. I made a jig to hold the 2 pieces rigidly in proper alignment with a space between the pieces and the jig so that the jig wouldn't get attached to the carburetor pieces. After that it was a simple job to fill the gap w/braze.
Hope this makes sense.

How about an ad in the "wanted" forum?

Contact Steve Becker at Bert's Model A in Denver. He has a ton of zenith parts. Literally, a ton, I am sure. It will cost less in time and money than fiddling with trying to repair it. Unless, of course, you enjoy the challenge.

I had a late 31 done by a friend a while ago and he arc welded it and it turned out fine. It wasn't the prettiest weld but it worked. I made the jig.

A friend is going to mine too. I was just wondering of anyone had success doing it. Glad they have!
