Cabriolet 68C Body Question
I am getting ready to fasten the belt rail in front of the rumble seat on the top of the body. At the top of the body, above the trim strip there is a 1/4" x 1/4" gap between the quarter panel and the upper rumble panel. I have forgotten how Henry sealed up this hole. It would be right next to the top lacing around the bottom. What is the best say to seal this area so that it can be painted? I hesitate to weld in this area. I don't want to damage the 5/16 in. wide trim piece. Thank you for your suggestions. Ed

Re: Cabriolet 68C Body Question
Bill, I think he is talking about the gap at the top end of the T strip and under the wood belt rail. I just used some auto body seam sealer.

Re: Cabriolet 68C Body Question
I see it now thanks. Took a look at the bodies.
In the past, I’ve always put cloth, treated friction tape between the wood and metal body; that covers it. Plus, the finish welting should cover it. I think body seam sealer is a good idea and I’ll likely do that in the future…..if I ever get that far before selling these! |
