Default Remembrance of Sgt Donald Malarkey

Sgt Donald Malarkey of E Co, 101st Airborne Div, Band of Brothers, a unit that shared a Model A Ford while at Camp Toccoa, GA, passed away yesterday in Oregon.
I was pleased to see his Obit received a 1/4 page in Long Island's Newsday.
Sgt Malarkey received the Bronze Star for Valor for his work on D Day, assisting in the destruction of the 105 MM howitzers blocking Utah Beach breakout on June 6, 1944.

Our local paper isn't as big as Newsday but it also had a nice obit. Sgt Malarkey truly was a great member of the greatest generation. He was portrayed by Scott Grimes in the HBO series Band of Brothers.

I was a member of 173rd (Third Herd) airborne too many years ago to name. I am always sad to hear of a another sky soldier leaving us. Time to rest brother.
