Re: '58 ford ranchero
that is what I thought lol oh well........ however the bedtrim top covering pieces have two short corner pices above the back window that show definatly more distortion and even some rust than all the other same aged parts. Are they a different alloy?

Re: '58 ford ranchero
Those curved pieces are chrome plated steel. I'm guessing that the stainless couldn't handle the compound curves.

Re: '58 ford ranchero
Not sure of the exact year, but I bought a '57 project Ranchero. It came with spare trim pieces for the bed rails; some are stainless and at least one set is plated steel. Gives me the idea that at some point both were produced but as I said, I don't know what years. The trim was the same for '57, '58 and I believe '59.

Re: '58 ford ranchero
I guess I will jump in, There were two model rancheros 66A no side trim painted bed trim and the ranchero script on the front fender, and the 66B with stainless side trim and stainless bed trim and the ranchero script was on the rear 1/4 panel. You are correct about the upper corner mostly being chrome but there are some out there that are stainless also, I have the stainless corners on my 57 ranchero. And for the 59 rancheros the bed trim was the same except for the long side pieces were a different length and the rear corners had kind of a S shape end that matched the S shaped ends on the tailgate top cap.

Re: '58 ford ranchero
on my 65 the lower corners as well as the upper were pressed or formed and chrome plated most are pitted or rusted so I went with a pained set painted the body color of the two tone
