A short time ago I found out the city in which I live has a 1917 T tucked away in a city garage. I also just received permission to go on the property to see the car and see what it would need to get it going for events and stuff.

Well saw the T today. Sad shape for a T. No top, missing cowl so someone just added a dash to the firewall and no front doors, no windshield, alot of past bondo work. Paint good, the head leaks, modern electric water pump, electric fan, Bent front axle from a tow in the past. Ran when they parked it 5-6 years ago. Engine not stuck. Seats in great shape.

Even with all that still would make a good parade car for the weather in Florida.
I figure a couple hundred bucks and I can get it running well enough for city events. I will make a report to the city to see if they have any discretionary funds to use on the project. If not, I may try hitting the autoparts stores in town for the money in exchange for a magnet on the car when used.

Remember it always seems to cost much more then we think, unless you have a pile of spare parts. My rebuild is a couple thousand over bubget. All I wanteds to do was get it running but water in engine made it a project.Good luck with it.

If they are like most cities. And I am a superintendent for one. They will probably not want to dump the money into it.

I think I can get a local autoparts store to foot the bill for parts, we will supply the labor, and have a magnet on the side of the car for advertising, maybe something like,

It looks pretty healthy, but most do until you check its vitals. I hope all goes well and it starts up with no hastle.All these old vehicles need is some ambition and a little dough$$. Good luck

I like the 12V OBERDORFER (br) water pump and the 12VDC Delco generator conversion. Thats an oldie! The rest looks do-able but for goodness sake turn that steering wheel over

So whats leaking up front? Only a gasket or a hose clamp, no biggy; a cracked head a bit bigger; a cracked block the biggest. Never seen a leaker up front like that. BTW... that also looks like a BECKER 12 volt converted starter motor

Gas, oil, water, some tire air and a set of points and itll run!
That front axle will straighten out with a chain or cable from behind. Give it a tug with another car or truck or the post in the barn if you get it running, WITH PRUDENCE. Itll pop right back in place and youll barely be able to tell that it was ever bent. Those axles will bend pretty easy and lots of folks pull started those cars from the middle and NOT the frame area. ws
