A little off topic but I visited a foundry on Tuesday that specialises in one or two off castings in iron or ductile. The interesting part is that they are making Styrofoam patterns which simply get packed (correctly) in the sand & then the molten metal burns the pattern & fills the cavity left. This could be handy for impossible to find car parts. (or boat parts) For reference it seems a 30# + casting would run about $3 a pound.

My reason for the trip was to pick up 3 gun barrels. They did a bautiful job on them but my poor Dakota almost had a hernia when they loaded the 1750 lb. in the box.

So what were the 583 lb barrels for? I believe they call that method investment casting... they do that with wax as well. Its a one off method. Later in life if my days permit, Id like to do some light stuff like personalized license plate frames and such. Probably in aluminum or brass due to the lower melting point. ws

SATURDAY LUNCH... T-BONES !! And are they ever fresh! Got the majority of front end fabricitificating done... finally. Started out with a bunch of DATUM measurements and found the whole job to be within 1/32" I guess paying attention as a kid is paying off now. Welded up the
T- BONES and the tie rod today... ground it nice and gave her the paint. Bolts are all in and nutted. Tomorrow its tighten and pin it fun. ws

Datum points were two body mount holes on the rear X member and the two front spindle center marks. Within 1/32 BTW!

Put a 36 inch pipe wrench on the front axle and merely tugged up up with the hoist to give the axle a 6.5 Degree caster. Welded these guys in place. Plenty of adjustment left.

AH! I think it looks pretty good!

This thred gets 100 views a day and nobody except mike and 2-3 other guys ever have anything to say. Thats OK... I talk to myself on the head and smoke in the shower while I sing. OK, Now I'm OUT !
Just some other stoopid pics from the wireless screen in the crapper. ws

Toe in is a perfect .250"

Rebuilding a driving car is one thing but this whole job has been a total overhaul, plus being components from 20 cars, AND, re-doing all the stuff as a period peeler. Two weeks away from running the motor, I hope!

These are gonna look great from the drivers seat!

Be careful what you ask for. I would really hope I can bring the touring with the top on it. But the sedan makes a statement too. I'm on my way now. I'd really like to drive me touring on that winding road on the north end of the peninsula that ends at the ferry landing and then take the t over to the island.

Washington Island... I have a 39th cousin that owns a tavern there (well 40 years ago anyway)... The locals up there drink a shot of bitters with a beer chaser... How bizarre is that?
Dairyland Tin Lizzies is doing a 3-4 day tour this summer from Milwaukee to Door County to the island and back home. Hotels and a break down trailer will be there. If the Pollinator aint done, Im taking the boat up north from there to a ghost town called Fayette stae park (Mich.) and plan on staying overnite on W.I. !! ws

No work on the transmission today at the Loso/Zinken ranch. My son and his wife are supposed to be headed for Grand Rapids in a rear wheel drive Mustang with "wide" "road" tires on and Grand Rapids is getting 8 inches of snow with 30 mph winds and white out conditions. So I've got a house full of family today. But that's OK the more time I can spend with my Granddaughter the better. I only get to see her once or twice a year. So a storm today is a good thing.

Bill,

You know all you have to do is ask and I probably have some. The price hasn't been to bad on the old rusty parts, the new ones are another story. Bill, your super bee is coming along great. Those wire wheels look sharp and fast!

Mike, I wish we had that much snow here, overtime ja know. That stang in the snow would be fun!

Back to the shop, we have an engine that needs to be whole again.

You're right Andy, it would be fun but I'd like them to have the car a little bit longer than 1 day. I'm just not sure what I'm going to feed them. Although that's not to much of a problem with my 7 yr old granddaughter. As long as it's made from coke or candy she'll eat anything. It's just that I'm getting a little crazy watching her bounce off the walls.

Hey OSO... If ya got one I need it! I just didnt want to overstep my bounds asking you for stuff... a lot of guys are funny about selling parts that theyve amassed like its a personal stash or something. From the bottom of my heart, I appreciate all youve done for me!
"Good T guys go to heaven..."

If you can shoot me that mount with a bill that would be great! I do need the complete unit as itll get mounted upside down as a spring retainer, and a support for the extended crank... Im kinda stuck right now without a starter. Mixed emotions about buying a 12 volt motor... Thats an investment in itself... ws

So things are moving along still... Got the running board brackets cleaned and painted. The front one is in the original position and the back one os moved forward to facilitate a short running board/step. One wont do it/ These will get assembled with a 2 X 10 as a base with an early running board with the FORD in big letters trimmed to fit. The ones I have are junk around the edges so its no great loss... ws

Since I had nothing else to do today, I took advantage of the 1 hour 20 minutes the book allows for installing the engine and spent 3 hours installing bolts on the rear motor mounts, including making the blocks that are a perfect fit! ws

My F-A-V-O-R-I-T-E bolt on the model T! I ended up taking the strap off and having Pat come out and get her skinny fingers down in there to start the nut.

When I pulled the motor out of the touring I noticed the side bolts on the rear mounts were missing.

Yeah. I think you're right. But when I saw where the bolts go and how hard it is to get in there I didn't blame them too much. I have no idea how I'm going to get mine in.
