I don't understand the little flag on the radiator. I know people quite often displayed the flag on their radiators but these folks are obviously not in a parade. And I can't imagine the gators or the bears really caring about how patriotic they are. The other interesting thing is that it looks, by the ruts, like other cars have already driven down the road.

The flag is a patriotic thing in those days, plus it acts as a speedometer, when flying full mast, you're doing 20mph.

OK I understand. So they were planning on going 20 mph where they were at. I see. I wonder if the flaf was made in the U.S. in those days or in China or Taiwan like some of them are now. Nothing like an American flag make in China. Are the little plastic flags as good as speed indicators as the cloth flags.

I see these roads all the time in MN.. Posted signs read -"Minimum Maintenence Road, travel at your own risk". This might even be an "improved" road in some Counties.

And notice that the hood is long gone. The other ruts in the road were probably made by someone sensible enough to hitch up the horses and not take the car.

Bill, the next time she asks to drive and you think it's appropriate to tell her about a short cut I hope we have the Hummer.
