Original floorboards...were they painted??
This might be a stupid question but were original, Model T floorboards painted or were they just a natural finish or stained??

Re: Original floorboards...were they painted??
Not sure about all years but all the original ones I've seen were black, stain or paint I don't know. I still have the 1926 Tudor floorboard I removed in 1967 from my first T.

Re: Original floorboards...were they painted??
My '26 tudor has what I believe to be the original floorboards that were made from shipping crate matl. They were painted black at one time.

Re: Original floorboards...were they painted??
Ford has part # drawings for all floorboards, the claim of using 'shipping crates' for Model T floorboards is just a myth. The boards are constructed with tongue and groove, using solid wood laminated boards.
The boards were coated with slush black paint, very thin. Here is an original, with sticker on it. |

The board in your photo look like they're one piece but mine are several separate tongue and groove boards with a couple cleats fastened on the back. Would they have been glued together at one time and age pretty much got them to come apart? Both my front and rear are the same.
