Default Wheel Balance Recommendation

I am about to order new tires for my '39. Can anyone with a good experience with a shop recommend a place in the SF East Bay or South Bay to balance the tires on theses wheels?

You will probably need to provide the tire shop wheel adapters for them to use in order to balance those 'wide-five' wheels. Any shop should be able to balance your tires and wheels if they have these adapters. See this link > http://www.dickspadaro.com/wheel_adapter.htm

You can leave the wheels bolted to the brake drums and have them
balanced together on a modern machine or find someone who has
the portable machine where you jack the wheel up and the machine
spins the wheel and an attachment mounted to the rim is adjusted
to show where the weights go. G.M.

After putting new tires on my 17" stock wheels and having them balanced the vibration and fender shake was intolerable--I ended up having each tire shaved true on the wheel by John Worden in Green Mountain, Iowa--I removed the balance weights and the car drives great--
I do not believe that quality control is very good on these bias ply tires in many cases--I hope you get some good ones if you are buying bias ply tires--Don

I have Counteract in my tires. (Just because that's what Snyder's sells), and they work great. Tires are 5.50R19.

You might try mounting and running before you decide if you even need to balance. I had new tires mounted on my 36 over four years ago and they are fine. With the amount most of these cars are driven, the tires will need to be replaced due to age before they come even close to wearing out.
