Default 49 F1 Clutch problem

Just brought a 1949 Ford F1, like new condition 44,000 mile only two owners

But the clutch will not engaged, owner said it was good just a short time ago.

Looking for guidance to fix this problem.

Thanks for your input.

The first thing I would check is the linkage to make sure nothing is disconnected.

Also, remove the transmission inspection plate and observe the throwout bearing when you actuate the clutch.

It won't engage or it won't disengage? In other words if the engine is running
you cant get the transmission into gear or you have it in gear and the truck
won't move when you let the clutch pedal out.

Here are some attachments that show clutch assembly and adjustment instructions. I hope this helps. Good luck.

Can you remove the transmission cover and see what's going on inside the transmission regarding the shifting forks, etc? Is there fluid in the transmission?

Wonder what "a short time ago" really means? Reminds me of "ran when parked".

If the free play and pedal feels good probably the clutch disc is
stuck to the flywheel, not really that uncommon.

I had this same problem with my '51 when I stored it for a couple of years. We took the car out on a deserted road in neutral. put it in gear and push started it. It broke free quite quickly.

Put it in high gear and hold the brake. Then try to start it. That will quite likely unstick the disc.

Interesting. I've been driving manual vehicles since 1976 and
I've never experienced this.

Just lucky I guess.....

When it happened to me, the car had been stored in an unheated garage in Minnesota for 3 years.

Once it freed up, it worked like it had before.

It happens to vehicles stored in humid area with the clutch pedal up. I found on my tractor that If i block the clutch pedal down for a few days it allows the disc to relax and it breaks loose easier.

I've had a few stuck clutches on the near dead junk I drag home. If it runs, I go out on the gravel road I live on in first gear, hold the clutch pedal to the floor and stomp on and off the gas pedal to get as much violence happening as you can. Usually works. If it doesn't run, I will park it on the hill in my driveway, in first gear, clutch in, and rock it back and forth with the bobcat pushing up, gravity pushing down, and again, as much violence as you can make. the slop in the drive train sorta acts like an impact gun when the play is used up, it gets a hit

The clutch inspection cover is shown below; there is no trans inspection cover. What exactly do you mean?
